Take Generic Norvasc - Amlodipine tablets by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets with a drink of water. You can take the tablets with or without food. STORAGE
Store at room temperature away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom) and light. Keep all medicines away from children and pets. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.

Before taking Generic Norvasc - Amlodipine, tell your doctor if you have liver disease; or another disease of the heart or blood vessels such as sick sinus syndrome, aortic stenosis, heart failure, low blood pressure, or coronary artery disease. You may not be able to take Generic Norvasc - Amlodipine, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above.
Generic Norvasc - Amlodipine is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether Generic Norvasc - Amlodipine will be harmful to an unborn baby.
Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether Generic Norvasc - Amlodipine passes into breast milk. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

In case of overdose, call emergency or your local poison control center. Symptoms of overdose include dizziness, weakness, and chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, coma, slurred speech, and confusion.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Generic Norvasc - Amlodipine and contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment:
an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, chest pain, severe dizziness or fainting, psychosis jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), or swelling of the legs or ankles.

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Generic Norvasc - Amlodipine and talk to your doctor if you experience: fatigue or tiredness, headache, insomnia, vivid or abnormal dreams, flushing, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation; or increased or difficult urination.

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are taking
• antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen)
• barbiturates such as phenobarbital
• bosentan
• grapefruit juice
• herbal or dietary supplements such as ginger, gingko biloba, ginseng, hawthorn, ma huang (ephedra), melatonin, St. John's wort, went yeast
• imatinib, STI-571
• local anesthetics or general anesthetics
• medicines for fungal infections (fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole)
• medicines for high blood pressure
• medicines for HIV infection or AIDS
• medicines for prostate problems
• medicines for seizures (carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone, zonisamide)
• rifampin, rifapentine, or rifabutin
• some antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin, telithromycin, troleandomycin)
• some medicines for heart-rhythm problems (amiodarone, diltiazem, verapamil)
• some medicines for depression or mental problems (fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, nefazodone)
• water pills (diuretics)
• yohimbine
• zafirlukast
